Programme Code: SG_SBPHAR_G
This programme is jointly offered by the Institute of Technology
Sligo and NIBRT (National Institute for Bioprocessing
Research and Training).
Duration:
Typically the duration of the programme will be part-time over
2 years for the 12 modules and an additional 6 months for the
dissertation. The programme commences in September each
year.
Exit Award:
A Level 9 Minor Award (Diploma in Bio-pharmaceutical
Science) can be achieved on completion of 6 modules (3 core
and 3 electives).
Minimum Entry Requirements
To obtain entrance to the Postgraduate Diploma: Candidates
must have achieved a Level 8 Honours Degree in Science or
Engineering awarded by a recognised Degree awarding body
or hold a relevant National Diploma/Ordinary degree in
Science or Engineering and have obtained a minimum of three
years relevant post qualification experience.
Candidates obtaining honours in the Postgraduate Diploma
may undertake the additional 30 Credits by way of a
dissertation for the M.Sc. programme.
To obtain entrance to the M.Sc. programme directly:
Candidates must have achieved a Level 8 Honours Degree or
its equivalent in an appropriate discipline (i.e. Engineering or
Life Sciences). Students applying on the basis of formal
qualifications and supplementary accredited prior learning will
be required to submit full details and references to the
programme board for consideration of educational
equivalencies.
Assessment
The modules are assessed by 100% continuous assessment,
with no end of year exams. Some or all of the following
