About the Higher Certificate in Computing
This programme is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in mainstream computing. The programme has a strong emphasis on the technology of computing, networking and computer programming skills.
About this Programme
The programme is divided into 12 (10 credit) modules as follows.
2010 modules:
- Computer systems
- Programming 1
- Project management
- Network systems
- Introduction to database management
- Web page design
2011 Modules:
- Telecommunications
- Digital media
- Programming 2
- Project
- Internet security
- Server management
It will also be necessary to complete a project over the summer period for the two years. The subjects offered in any particular year are subject to change.
After you Graduate
On successful completion of the programme graduates can progress to a Level 7 Ordinary Degree in Computing.
Entry Requirements
A level of computer competence is required to participate in this programme. Applicants may be asked to attend for interview and undertake an aptitude test to determine their suitability for the programme.

Fees: €175 per 5-credit module, €350 per 10-credit module, €2,100 per year
