BSc in Quality

Programme Code: SG_EQUAL_J07

About Quality

Quality is a broad based discipline focused on improving products and processes in order to meet and exceed customer expectations in a competitive environment.

About this programme:

This on-line programme is aimed at those already working in a quality-related function, or aspiring to do so. The programme covers the scientific and management principles necessary for the achievement of customer satisfaction in a way that makes an enterprise competitive. The tools and techniques necessary to implement LEAN and SIX SIGMA programmes are included as well as modules on the statistical, management and communications aspects of quality. These principles, tools and techniques also have wide application outside the quality function.  Students completing the L7 BSc in Quality meet the requirements of the internationally recognised Six Sigma Green Belt award. Students receive this award in addition to their degree by sitting an external Green Belt exam.

Career Opportunities:

The B.Sc. in Quality provides a path to professional development. The most obvious first position for new graduates is Quality Technician or Engineer. Many graduates go on to become quality managers, or pursue specialist careers within the Quality Profession, for example vendor engineer, validation specialist or quality systems manager. They may also branch out into related areas in their organisation such as production management, supply chain management or marketing.

Further study opportunities:

Graduates from this programme are eligible to apply for Level 8 Honours degree programmes, such as the online BSc (Hons) in Quality Management and Technology at IT Sligo.

Eligibility requirements:

Level 6 (Higher Certificate – formerly National Certificate) qualification in relevant discipline or equivalent. For those who do not have the required equivalent qualifications a qualifier programme is available.
