core modules are:
• Biopharmaceutical drug discovery and development
• Fermentation and cell culture processing
• Biopharmaceutical risk assessment and management
• Protein purification processing
• Legislation/Regulatory Affairs for Biopharmaceutical
products
• Bioprocess scaleup and technology transfer
Elective modules are chosen from the three principal strands
with a requirement to choose at least one module from each
strand.
Quality System/Compliance Strand
• Biopharmaceutical analytical techniques
• Biopharmaceutical industry regulation and management
• Biopharmaceutical process validation
• Lean Sigma principles for biopharmaceutical processing
• Wastewater treatment for biopharmaceutical processes
Science Strand
• Toxicology for Biopharmaceuticals
• Advanced glycobiology analysis
• Formulation and delivery of biopharmaceuticals
• Bioprocessing laboratory
Operations Strand
• Biopharmaceutical facility design and operation
• Utilities for biopharmaceutical processes
• Project management for biopharmaceutical projects
• Upstream Bioprocessing Engineering
• Downstream Bioprocessing Engineering
• Bioprocess monitoring and control
• Bioprocess design and operations
About this programme
The programme aims to provide scientists/engineers with
industrial experience with a comprehensive grounding in
critical aspects of biopharmaceutical processing and support
activities, with specific focus on the product lifecycle of
biopharmaceutical products/processes.
NOTE: Candidates cannot be conferred with a PgD and an
MSc. and they need to make a decision regarding
progression to the MSc. before completing the modules
for the PgD.
Fee Structure
• PgD in Biopharmaceutical Science €1,000 per 5 Credit
Module.
