What is an online course like?
IT Sligo is the leader in Ireland in the delivery of live lectures over the Internet. Our online courses are very familiar to students in that they replicate the face-to-face classroom, by web-casting live classes over the Internet, where students can hear the lecturer and see the board and where they can interrupt the class and ask questions. All these live classes are recorded for those who may not be able to attend or for use as revision resources. In addition to these live classes, each module has it’s own web page where lecturers can post useful resources, students can submit assignments and get private feedback, and where students can communicate with their lecturers and with each other.
Online learning from IT Sligo has been very successful with high examination marks and great feedback from students. It Sligo has enrolled students from virtually all the large multi-national companies in Ireland including, Intel, Boston Scientific, Abbott, Masonite, Lilly and Wyeth.
Here are some of the many messages we have received from students and their employers:
- “I think the whole experience has been fantastic. When I tell friends and work colleagues about the on-line lectures and interactive presentations they are intrigued and amazed.”
- “I am impressed by the whole IT Sligo organization. The delivery method of lectures and quality of tutors is excellent.”
- “I found the course to be quite challenging at times, but the fact that it was so well organised and the helpfulness and accessibility of yourself and the lecturers made it a very
worthwhile experience, and one that I am very glad to have completed.”
- ” I was delighted to receive a proposal from our OHS and HR people in Ireland to work with the Institute of Technology, Sligo to develop an International Safety Programme on behalf of Masonite. This innovative programme was developed from Masonite’s OHS programme and best international practice. In addition the programme was to be delivered on-line across our European sites most in need of training and development. This was a most cost effective solution to transfer knowledge from a centre of excellence directly into our manufacturing sites.”

Distance Learning Courses
Some of our courses were developed as distance learning courses before we adopted online technologies. These courses are usually based on manuals that are posted out to the learner, but they have all now added online features such as described above.
We hope that we can provide an online or distance learning course to suit you. If you want to know more or to ask a question, just email firstname.lastname@example.org indicating the programme you are interested in, or check out our Frequently Asked Questions
